The Trust took delivery of a 'white' van in October 2007
Sign-writing has now been completed and we are extremely grateful to Mr Peter Caunter who made a donation to The Trust in memory of his dog Pippa, which will cover the cost of the sign-writing, with some monies left over to go towards the upkeep of the van. Peter’s original donation was to cover the cost of new fund-raising collecting boxes with Pippa’s image to be displayed on the sides. Unfortunately the costs of the boxes was considerably higher than expected and it was decided that the money would be better spent on something else – and the something else turned out to be the sign-writing for the new van. As well as The Trust’s logo and website and telephone contacts, the van will proudly display an image of Pippa.
This will follow in something of a tradition, as one of our smaller vehicles currently sports an image of a St Bernard (which does raise some eyebrows sometimes) especially as the sign-writing clearly indicates The Labrador Rescue Trust. Jumby the van, was donated to The Trust in memory of Jumby the St Bernard – the van had been used as Jumby's personal mode of transport.
We will still keep our donation appeal open for the van – as we have unfortunately had to dip into our 'dogs' money in order to make this much needed purchase. So if you are able to help – then please do consider making a donation, so that we can continue rescuing our Labs and raising awareness of The Trust at the many fund-raising events that we attend throughout the Show season.
Due to the continued increase in the nuber of dogs coming into rescue in the Devon area, The trust has just purchased a van for use by the Devon helpers. The sign writing was completed in August 2008 and so we now have small vans in Cornwall, Devon and Somerset and the large transit also operates within Somerset are to transport several dogs within teh South West when needed and to transport the merchandise to the various larger events.
We need to cover not just fuel and transportation costs but also the insurances and breakdown cover for all these vehicle - so if you can help by making a donation (no matter how small or large) we would be extremely grateful.
