In Memoriam - Jester

Jester came to us in January 1998 aged 2 years from somewhere in Somerset.

Jester 1

He had apparently borne the brunt of his then owners post natal depression, and it took him some time to get used to me, but when he did, he became my best friend. I was convinced he was meant to come to us as he was born on January 6th, which was also my mother's birthday. We live near a beach and he used to love being taken there to run around and do his own thing, especially if the tide was coming in. He loved water and did not hesitate to either jump in streams or go out as far as he could in the sea. He was also always ready to go for a walk.

In 2004 he had 4 non-malignant lumps removed. 2006/7 saw an op on both ears for burst blood vessels plus a mini stroke from which he recovered except for weak back legs but neither stopped him from having fun. At the beginning of this month (October 2008) he had a slight limp but no medication helped so an x-ray was taken. The results were not good so I had to make the very hard decision, but not before making sure nothing else could be done, but as it was the BIG C there was obviously no alternative. The end came on October 14th at home by injection and my only consolation is that it was quick, he is now out of pain and at peace. His remains will be here with us and there are lots of photos to remember him by, plus wonderful memories.

My family and I feel so lucky to have had such a wonderful and gentle companion for nearly 11 years.
